Sleepover .... What to expect

Lo and behold.... Me and D also came face to face with this reality....

The wish of my LO, who is thinking himself to be quite grown up now, to organise a sleepover party for his friends...

Off course we complied... but we were stepping in the unknown territory...

Yes yes !!! I agree ...parenting in itself is an unknown territory for all of us.. we all brace ourselves and jump into it to face whatever may come..

We decided .. we would plan an elaborate dinner with breakfast in the morning for our one night wards. Here the planning of Menu was like a piece of cake... literally ...But the menu itself was going to be according to our activities for the night, but.... hold it

All depended on the space for sleeping in one room with each other but not cramped....

So I asked LO to make list of his bestest of friends ...whom he was willing to call... and I gave the task of ruling out the naughtiest ones ... so that my sanity could be restored afterwards

First of all call to mommies, if they would be willing to send their children then only further planning was feasible... The mommies of friends my LO wanted to call were not very much acquainted with me..

With a little doubt first of all I called one whom I thought to be knowing me a bit more than others.. she agreed to send her child till 12:30 in the night only.. I felt obliged... called another one.. luckily neighbour of the first one... she too agreed for 12:30 only... Now what??????

I was doubt full ... will other mommies send or not ?? Will it be a sleepover or just postponing sleep a little over

Luckily the third and the fourth and the fifth agreed happily...sixth one was out, so we planned for these many only..This way it was manageable

We folded our LO's bed and made room for 3 big mattresses..

Now the entertainment part... the key lied in keeping all busy till they dropped and we made exceptions for some ...............................................................pillow fight and Dark Room too...

On the D Day party started with an interesting movie with cold drinks and pizzas and cake, then some Poori (Indian fried flat bread) and Masalsa Chana ( Indian Black gram curry)... after that Pop corns in big plastic glasses with handles... and some fried snacks ....

After that they changed to pajamas and we had a Treasure Hunt in whole house with clues written in the form of riddles...

Then came the highlight of the night ...............Pillow fights

This was the scene ... all mattresses gone ... pillows started coming out of their covers... but we had made room accident free by moving things and the children just enjoyed it....

Then the Dark Room.. where D kept an eye on them... after that we arranged things again and started games with chits and papers ... where children mimicked their friends, their teachers and talked about themselves... again one round of Ice cream soda and then the early goers parted reluctantly.....

Time came to hit the sack....we in our room and children in theirs

But they kept talking and talking and talking... and me and D dog tired by now, drifted to sleep

Sometime in the night I woke up and checked on them ... the angels were fast asleep ..

Morning passed with lots of chatting, some Idli (steamed rice cakes) and pakode (fried dumplings) with chatny and ketchup and a glass of chocolate milk...

Eventually in the mid morning,  My LO and D went to drop them off to their respective places...

They all were very happy till the next week ended and we were contented.........

  1. Aarish and his friends ,it seems, had a great day(rather night) of unlimited and enjoyable moments.Three cheers for the parents to experiment a novelty for the children.I wonder what was the reaction of the reluctant parents afterwards!😄👍

    1. Yes all who remained were very happy and one of the parent, whose child didn't stay for night, wants another sleepover. She has asked me many times about it :))
